Getting the chance to photograph behind the scenes moments is one of my favorite things to do. I had the opportunity to photograph Tati Gabrielle on the set of her 1883 Magazine photoshoot, which was something truly special.
The editorial, shot by the incredibly talented Alexandra Arnold, featured Tati in a series of bold and expressive looks. I captured Tati through the lens of my Instax Mini Polaroid camera by Fujifilm. I find photographing on polaroids incredibly rewarding; not only because of the instant nature, but also the excitement everyone gets to see the image.
Working with Tati felt like being in a masterclass of acting. She embodied the clothes, it was as if every look brought forward a new character, a new story. Watching her move, pose, and express was like witnessing performance art in real time.

Beyond the talent, she’s also one of the sweetest people I’ve had the joy of photographing. Despite the full production happening around her, she made space for warmth and connection. It’s rare to meet someone who can both command a room and make everyone in it feel seen.
The article for 1883 Magazine touched on Tati’s growing body of work, including her role in The Last of Us: Season 2, where she plays Nora. Having just wrapped scenes with Pedro Pascal, including one of the show’s most intense moments, she spoke candidly about the emotional resonance of that work.
I’m so grateful to Alexandra Arnold, 1883 Magazine, and of course, Tati, for allowing me to witness and document such a beautiful day of creativity and collaboration.
